Nani Oniya wins 2nd National Level Exhibition & Project Competitions, 2012

Nani Oniya of VKV ( Vivekandand Vidyalaya) of Ziro of Arunachal PRadesh won 2nd National Level Exhibition & Project Competitions, 2012 in New Delhi organised by Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE), Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.

Nani Oviya is daughter of Nani Tatung and Nani Yassey, lives Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh, she presented a model on ‘Balcony Composting’ with a theme: Science, Society and Environment and with sub-theme ‘Agriculture’.

Arunachal Pradesh likely to join Railway map of India

With both state governments, Assam and Arunachal PRadesh, giving clearance for land acquisition for railway line from Harmuti railway station in Lakhimpur district to Nahar Lagun in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. The distance between Harmuti and Nahar Lagun is 9KM and is 7KM away from Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar.

It may be mentioned that, the gauge conversion work from existing meter gauge broad gauge from Rangiya to MurkongSelek is in full swing and likely to be completed by December 2013.

Scam Investigating Officer Goes Missing in Arunachal Pradesh

Superintendent of Police of the Special Investigation Cell, MS Chauhan, went reportedly missing while traveling from Itanagar to Tawang, from Tippi around 2.30 pm on Tuesday, 15 Oct 2012.

Chauhan was appointed as the special investigating officer to probe the multi-crore PDS scam in Arunachal Pradesh in 2008 as per the directive of the Gauhati High Court following a PIL filed with the HC in 2004.

Tongam Rina, Scribe from Arunachal Pradesh shot in Itanagar

Tongam Rina, an associate editor of Arunachal Times, a news paper published from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh was shot at by unidentified gunman while she was entering her Arunachal Times office at Sector-E area in Itanagr around 6pm when the shooters, who were waiting for her there, fired at her.

The attackers fled after the attack. Rina was rushed to Ram Krishna Mission Hospital at Itanagar critical condition. Hospital sources said her intestines and backbone have been damaged in the attack. She was operated last night and said to be stable now.

Tibet and North East India: Political pawn between India and China

On 10th March 1959, Tibetan revolted against Chinese rule in Lhasa. After that, on 12 March 1959, Tibetans marched in Lhasa ( Capital of Tibet) declaring independence of Tibet from Chinese rule. Since then, many Tibetans observe 10th March as Tibetan Uprising Day. Predictably, China could contain the uprising by 1962, but Dalai Lama could flee to India and was hosted by Indian government since then.

This also marked a sharp changes in relation between Tibet and India, specially in Tawang which is inside Indian territory as per McMohan line, border between India and China. Buddhists Monastery in Tawang used to pay tribute to Lhasa before 1959 and it showed black flag to Indian Political officer’s visit to Tawang in 1953.

China objects to Indian Ministers visit to Arunachal Pradesh

China has objected to visit of Indian Defence Minister A K Antony to Arunachal Pradesh to participate 25th statehood day celebration on 20th February 2012. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said on Saturday evening that India should refrain from taking any action that could complicate the border issue.

The official Xinhua news agency said Hong was reacting to reports of “Indian officials participating in activities organized by the so-called ‘Arunachal Pradesh’ region”. Indian officials. Hong asked India to work with China to maintain peace and stability in border areas. China advocates seeking a fair and rational solution through equal and friendly negotiations, the spokesman said.

Arunachal Pradesh completed 25 years as a State in India

Arunachal Pradesh is today celebrating its statehood day. On this day, 20th February 1987, it has become full fledged state. Previously, it was a union territory. It was also known as NEFA ( North East Frontier Agency) and was administered through Ministry of External Affairs by political officers and Governor of Assam, till 1972. In 1972, it became a union territory and was placed under a chief commissioner.

After 3 years, in 1975, it acquired a legislature. And finally, on 20th February 1987 Statehood was conferred on Arunachal Pradesh when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister and it became the 25th State of the Union of India.

KMSS supports North East Water Resource Authority (NEWRA)

What could be music to the ears of CM Tarun Gogoi of Assam, KMSS ( Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti) has extended support to it for forming North East Water Resource Authority (NEWRA). KMSS has also insisted on effecting an amendment in the National Hydro Power Policy 2008.

In a statement issued to the press, the KMSS said that unless it was ensured that Assam enjoyed equal benefits of inter-State river waters, all construction of dams over inter-State rivers should be opposed.
