Arunachal Pradesh Integral Part of India : Indian PM

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that Arunachal Pradesh has always been an integral part of India and will remain so and the Chinese map showing the northeastern state as its part will not change the reality.

This “simple fact” was conveyed by the Prime Minister to a delegation of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union which met him here yesterday, AAPSU president Takam Tatung said. “Arunachal Pradesh has always been an integral part of India and will remain so,” Tatung quoted Singh as saying.

Arunachal Government Revokes Issue of PRC to non APST

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister on 29th Sep 2010 revoked the earlier decision of issuing PRC ( Permanent Residential Certificate) to NON-APST in Changlang and Lohit districts. There were huge hue and cry and protest over this PRC issue, led by AAPSU ( All Arunachal Pradesh Student Union).

Chief Minister Khandu convened a hurried press conference with presence of Chowna Mein, Takar Marde, Setong Sena, Kalikho Pul and Atum Welly, his ministerial co colleagues. This move is welcome by all.

NESO accuses Centre of Divisive Policy

NESO ( North East Student’s Organisation) has accused centre of following divide and rule policy to prevent the people of North Eastern states launching movement unitedly for solution to problems in the North East India. President of the NESO, Samujjal Bhattacharya said that over the years, the Government of India did not take any positive step for the permanent solution of the boundary disputes among the states of the region. “The Centre wants the Northeast to remain divided and that is why no positive step has been taken to find permanent solution of the boundary disputes. The Governments of the concerned states also lack sincerity to deal with the problem,” he alleged. [Read more...]

PRC to Non-APST : AAPSU Protests

The Arunachal Government has ordered to issue PRC (Permanent Residential Certificate) to non-APST in Lohit And Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh by Office Memorandum vide No.POL-193/2004/453 dated 24 June 2010. All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union ( AAPSU ) has termed this violation of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act of 1873 and Supreme Court orders and demanded to cancel this order with immediate effect.

Diyun attack by Chakmas jolt up Government

The State Government taken serious exception to the Diyun incident on Monday in which Chakma refugees reportedly attacked locals returning from a hearing on summary revision of electoral rolls injuring at least 30. Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today called a hurried high level meeting at his offices and directed Home Minister Tako Dabi to rush to Diyun to take stock of the situation. Dabi is expected to fly down to Diyum early tomorrow.

Issuing instructions to deploy additional forces to maintain peace and tranquility in the area, Khandu has decided to write a letter to the Election Commission of India on the issue of revision of electoral rolls in Chakma inhabited areas. CMO sources said that Khandu is worried about the latest development as he had been personally keeping a on the refugee imbroglio haunting the state for decades. Earlier, besides taking up the issue with the Centre, he had raised the issue at the 55th National Development Council meeting held at New Delhi on July 24 last under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
