Purbashri Boro, young girl of SoS Children’s Village, Guwahati, Assam is scheduled to scale the highest peak in the world Mount Everest in March 2011. She has undergone gruelling training schedule for the final selection for the Mount Everest Expedition.
She has undergone training on mountaineering at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarakhand and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling. She is also pursuing a course in photography after completion of Higher Secondary.
Apart from being grateful to the members of the SoS family, Purbashri is obliged to Nesim Akhtar, the secretary of the North East Adventure Foundation, the organisation that is arranging the expedition in 2011. “Nesimba has been encouraging and guiding me a lot. Without her support I would not have been able to find the true direction in life,” said Purbashri visibly moved.
Many have gone to scale the highest mountain and set their footstep successfully on top of the peak, but Purbashri’s would be a bit different story – for on every ascending step taken on the mountain would be written a tale of rising from the darkness of sorrow to the happiness of life.
It may be noted that, recently many children of SOS village in Guwahati have been excelling in various fields and Purbashri Boro is one of them. This SOS Village, Guwahati was established in 1983.
