ABSU rally at Amingaon, ignored by Media in Assam

ABSU – All Bodo Students Union, had taken out rally of around 15000 Bodo people hat at the sprawling parade ground at Amingaon in outskirt of Guwahati on the occasion of 25th anniversary of Bodoland Statehood movement. The separate state of Bodoland was started in 1987, led by late Upen Brahma.

Interestingly, not many news papers from Assam or TV media had reported the massive rally by ABSU supporters from Bodo tribe which form the largest tribal population in Assam. Except Telegraph and Sentinel, no other news paper has published the news with any prominence.

Ban on NDFB to continue

The ban on NDFB ( National Democratic Front of Bodoland), an insurgent group fighting for sovereign Bodoland comprising of Bodo dominated areas in Assam, is likely to continue to next two years as Assam had produced evidences of NDFB sponsored terrorist activities in lower Assam before the Unlawful Activities Prevention Tribunal, headed by Justice P K Bhasin.

The centre notified ban on the NDFB on 23 November 2010 for two years on the ground that it has not abjured violence.

Bodo People Are completely alienated : ABSU

According to All Bodo Students Union ( ABSU), the powerful students organisation of Bodo tribe in Assam, alienation of the Bodo people is complete and recent announcement of separate Telngana state by Home Minister P Chidambaram, has paved way for renewing their demand for separate Bodoland.

ABSU has staged a demonstration in New Delhi on 28th October 2010 and met Minister of State in PMO ( Prime Ministers Office), Prithviraj Chavan.

ABSU to revive separate Bodoland state demand

All Assam Bodo Students Union ( ABSU ) has reiterated its separate Bodoland demand here in Udalguri Nalbari playground centrally observing Bodoland Martyrs’ Day. Many Bodo people gathered in the playground with various placards which read “No Bodoland, No Rest” all around.

Addressing the gathering, Pramod Boro, ABSU president said that the State and BTC Government has not fulfilled their assurances to the families Bodoland martyrs. According to him, a total of 1,135 people were killed indiscriminately during the Bodoland movement between 1987 to 1993.
