Axom (Assam) has produced many students who have gone ahead to become successful in their respective fields. That very same success, however has taken them away from their mother land. The desire to give back to the state, deep rooted inside all of them took the shape of Xomidhan.
Xomidhan – meaning solution, was conceived after multiple intensive online discussions on a popular social networking website. An idea which started with the aim of helping students from Nagaon in Axom took a larger picture in its stride to aim towards becoming a solution to numerous career related problems of students from Axom and the entire North-East.
Www.Xomidhan.org was launched with a handful of members which today has more than 200 enthusiastic counselors, experts in their own domains, spread all across the globe. It is a platform to help students from North-East India, launch their careers with proper guidance, mentorship and counseling. It is purely a not-for-profit organization, whose members, provide crucial support, information and directions to the student community of the north-east, encircling students right from high school confused with multiple ‘aims in life’ to graduates and post-graduates seeking suggestions on making the next move in their career paths. In its relatively short journey, Xomidhan has answered more than 312 career related queries and helped 300 students in taking steps towards a brighter future. Xomidhan has also been felicitated with the Special Jury Mention award in the eNorthEast Awards 2011.
Going forward, Xomidhan will try to reach more needy students. Xomidhan is also planning to launch a “Mentorship-cum-Scholarship” program in 2012, unique and one of its kind in North-East. The broad idea is to select a few deserving, meritorious students from economically challenged backgrounds and provide them with mentorship & scholarship so as to enable them to successfully sail through the most critical part of their careers, i.e., transition from Std. XI/XII to an undergraduate course.
The Xomidhan team requests all interested students to visit the website: www.Xomidhan.org and post their queries by filling in a small form.
