ULFA is splitting again

ULFA is splitting again, according to Assam CM Tarun Gogoi.

Self styled ULFA Commander – in – Chief, Paresh Barua has been agaist talks for long time. He is last remaining top ULFA leader who has not been arrested. Also there are rumour that he has been arrested already but since he has not agreed to talks, the arrest has not been made public. Paresh Barua is said to have considerable support among hard-line ULFA cadres.

So, it will be interesting to see how the talks moves ahead without Paresh Barua as CM Gogoi indicated thet they would would go ahead even without Paresh Barua. But the peace may still allude Assam and Paresh Barua still controls the armed wing of ULFA.

NEW DELHI, June 17 – Confirming that outlawed ULFA is heading for a split, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said Paresh Barua should see the writing on the wall, even as he ruled out the possibility of releasing the jailed leaders and also declaring an unilateral ceasefire.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, the Chief Minister dealt with a host of issues and gave a brief account of his meetings with Central leaders inclu-ding Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Union Minister for Water Resources Paban Kumar Bansal and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora, among others.
