KMSS plans for massive rally over NC Hills scam on 10th January 2011

Farmer organisation Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) announced on 28th Dec 2010 that it would conduct a massive rally in Guwahati at Dispur Last Gate on January 10 next in support of its demands in connection with the multi-crore-rupee scam in the NC Hills ( now Dima Hasao) Autonomous Council.

The charismatic and popular farmer leader Akhil Gogoi has been demanding resignation of Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi over this NC Hills scam for his ‘alleged’ involvement. This rally may make Congress high command in Delhi in view of the next coming election as well as news of various scams all over country for last few months!

The KMSS said in a press release here that through its proposed January 10 rally, it would be making an attempt at issuing a warning to the Union Government and the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to punish the guilty. It would also ask the AICC general secretary in-charge of Assam Digvijay Singh not to shield any of the guilty persons.

Noted RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal and convenor of the National Alliance of People’s Movement Dr Sandip Pandey are also expected to participate in the rally, the KMSS said.

KMSS ( Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti) alleged that Chief Minister Gogoi has been misleading the people with his wrong assertions on the NC Hills Council scam. The Chief Minister is making assertions contrary to the findings of the Government agencies, which reveal the involvement of his Government in the scam, said the peasant organisation.

It is interesting to note that Akhil Gogoi has been targeted by various youth congress leaders as well as few journalists affiliated to Himanta Biswa Sarma‘s small Guwahati based local TV channel NewsLive, as “Chinese Agent”. It reminds of Congress leaders during Indira Gandhi in 1980s accusing opposition leaders as CIA ( Central Investigation Agency of America) Agents before imposing emergency in 1975. Congressi’s in Assam are now accusing mass leaders like Akhil Gogoi as Chinese agent!
