BTAD Communal Violence Update: 38 dead

Recent update from BTAD in Assam says that the ongoing communal violence has resulted in 38 confirmed deaths which also includes few deaths due to police firing in order to control unruly mob. Army has conducted flag march in the morning today in all four districts in BTAD.

1300 army personals has been deployed as per reports to quell the communal violence which is continuing till last Friday. Chirang district has been put under 144 as well as shoot at sight order has been given.

So far 121 relief camps have been set up sheltering around one lac seventy thousand people. As per reports, more than 100 villages have been torched in the violence which is continuing at night.

All party delegation has reached Kokrajhar and took stock of the situation. Meanwhile, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilari opines that the situation is udner control now. While Assam Chief Minister says, the situation will be controlled very soon. He also states that, no news of involvement of any illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the ongoing violence.

Today, shops were open for few hours in Kokrajhar and prices of essential like vegetables have been sold at higher prices. People were seen to be buying up stock.

We hope the mindless violence ends soon and peace comes back to BTAD.
