Assam Pradesh Congress Chief Anjan Dutta passed away today at 7:30AM at AIIMS, New Delhi. He has been suffering from pneumonia for long time. 64-year-old Dutta was undergoing treatment at the department of Pulmonary Sciences. He died due to cardiac failure at 7:11 AM. He was in ICU since May 18, 2016.
He was born on 13 April 1952, in Sibsagar, Assam.
Anjan Dutta is credited with reviving ailing ASTC ( Assam State Transport Corporation) when he was transport minister in 2001 to 2006. He had served as Minister in Assam government from 1992 to 1996 and again from 2001 to 2006. He had served as MLA from Amguri and was later appointed APCC Chief in Dec 13, 2014.
In the last assembly election, he did not contest but his daughter contested from Amguri seat which she lost.
