There has been reports recently about agitation against proposed Bodoland as well as protest against inclusion of BTAD ( Bodoland Territorial Administrative Districts) in parts of BTAD areas, like Dheiajuli. As per reports, Sonitpur District Minority students union has blocked NH-52 for more than three hours protesting against harassment faced by them as well as opposing inclusion of their villages in BTAD.
They also demanded that their villages should be governed under Assam government directly. The President and secretary, Sonitpur district AAMSU submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through DC, Sonitpur demanding effective steps to maintain law and order in BTAD and other parts of north Assam.
I also demanded withdrawal of non-Bodo villages from the administration of BTAD. It also demanded population wise reservation in all Government, Govt undertaking and higher educational institutions.
Addressing the gathering Dipok Khodal, vice-president, Dhekiajuli AATTSA said that they would also oppose Bodoland. They will not allow Dhekiajuli area to be included in Bodoland.
Most probably, this is an alarming development in Assam which may see violence between Bodos and Non-Bodos in BTAD areas. The government of Assam has tough time ahead, it seems.
