AASU starts indefinite ‘Economic Blockade’ against Arunachal Pradesh

The influential All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) has launched an indefinite ‘Economic Blockade’ against Arunachal Pradesh from today protesting against violence by miscreants backed by the NSCN-IM for the past one week at Charaipung and Bimolapur in Sivasagar district.

“We don’t not accept the NSCN-IM’s ‘Greater Nagalim’. We will not give an inch of our land. We had met Muivah at his camp in Nagaland and conveyed our stand to him,” AASU general secretary Tapan Gogoi told reporters.

Recently, a police constable was injured after miscreants backed by NSCN-IM militants fired at at Charaipung area in the district, the sources said.

This is an interesting development. It may be noted that, almost all other states ( barring Manipur) in North East India has some border dispute with Assam. All the states were carved out from Assam. Almost all states have to use national high ways in the plains of Assam for any essential commodities.
