Jarbom Gamlin is new CM of Arunachal Pradesh

After confirmation of death of Dorjee Khandu, in a tragic incident yet another chopper crash in Tawang, Arunachl Pradesh, Jarbom Gamlin has been sworn in as new Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

Jarbom Gamlin, an alumnus of Sainik School Goalpara and St. Stephens College in Delhi, was a power minister in Dorjee Khandu’s Cabinet. Jarbom Gamlin belongs to colourful Galo Tribe, a group belonging to Tani group of tribes in Arunachal Pradesh.

Jarbom Gamlin beat his competitors like PACC President and PWD Minister Nabam Tuki, finance minister Setong Sena and RWD minister Kalikho Pul.

During Dorjee Khandus, chief minister ship, many MOU of hydel power projects signed where Jarbom Gamlin was power minister. So, elevation of Jarbom Gamlin can be seen as victory of hydel power project companies as now it is expected that he would continue with same policies of Dorjee Khandu for hydel power projects in the state. Also, his being belonging to Galo Tani tribe, a majority group as Tani, will make many Tanis happy.

He entered Arunachal Pradesh politics by defeating Omak Apang, son of Gegong Apang, in 1999 Lok Sabha election from West Arunachal Seat.
